After using the LUBA 2 AWD 3000X for a few weeks I can say that it delivers on its promises. The setup process is straightforward, and the included manuals and guides are clear, well-written, and easy to follow – a strong point for anyone new to robotic mowers.
The Android app is also well-designed and easy to use. It provides a clean interface for managing zones, schedules, and mower status, making day-to-day interaction with the LUBA very convenient.
In terms of performance, the mower is reliable. The core features such as RTK positioning and visual recognition work well. Obstacle detection is effective, though I hope the visual recognition continues to improve with future updates, especially in more complex or shaded environments.
There are some areas that could use refinement. The mapping and zone editing system, while very functional, would benefit from more intuitive tools – for instance, the ability to quickly place predefined no-go shapes for common obstacles like trees, bushes, or posts would significantly streamline the process (the manual/encircled ones are too large for small objects).
One standout feature is the ability to manually control the mower using a game controller (tried with xbox one and ps4 controller), which works great for moving it around and manual mowing. Unfortunately, this controller cannot be used during mapping, which is a missed opportunity. Being able to map with the controller would make the process far smoother and faster, especially on large or irregularly shaped properties.
Overall, the LUBA 2 AWD 3000X is a solid and capable mower with a lot of potential to make it even better. It’s a good investment for those looking to automate lawn care on medium-sized properties, and with a few updates, it could become even more user-friendly and efficient.
